Paid Off

Over the weekend, I got a sweet piece of mail. Tucked in between the catalogues and bills was a long white envelope that made me squeal.

On the outside, it said: Title enclosed.

Not really squeal material for you? I understand.

I paid off my car. There was a time not too long ago where I thought I might lose my car. I was digging pennies out from old pocketbooks and childhood banks. I clipped coupons and did without. I listened to Dave Ramsey. Rice and beans. Beans and rice.

So, now you know why I squealed when I saw it.

What if I decided that I don't really own my car? What if I sent the title back? What if I continued to make payments?? Well, the few of you who don't know it already, would say... "yep..it's true. She's lost it. CRAZY!!!"

And yet...

Maybe I'm the only one who truly believes in the forgiveness of God. But, continues to try to make payments on a title that is already mine.

When I can't forgive myself for mistakes I've made...
When I won't accept the love that has been paid for....
When I refuse the grace that was purchased at such a high price...

And I trade my "forgiven" title in for....

Divorced...
Broken...
Discouraged...
Failure...
Rejected...

Never once have I ever wanted to show off my debt. But, since, I received the title...I've shared it with everyone who would stop long enough to listen. When I was at the brink of losing it all, my debt was cancelled.

God,
Help me to see my debt in proper perspective and boast only in the title I've been given.
All because of Jesus.
